The position:
Reporting to the General Manager, Sustainability, HVP is seeking an Environment Manager to proactively lead the business in developing and maintaining environmental standards and monitor and improve environmental performance across all operations.The position is responsible for improving biodiversity outcomes through system improvements, building capacity in monitoring and oversight of strategically aligned projects across HVP’s landholdings.
This role is based in either our Melbourne CBD office or a regional office (Gippsland preferred).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage environmental risks and ensure compliance with legislation, certification standards, and HVP policies.
- Deliver biodiversity outcomes through koala management, habitat protection, and conservation programs.
- Support and train staff and contractors on practical environmental and land management practices.
- Lead key projects and manage the environment budget aligned with strategic goals.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, communities, and environmental stakeholders.
About You:
- Proven experience in environmental management and sustainability systems within forestry, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation and certification standards (e.g., EPBC Act, Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act, Victorian Forestry Code of Practice, FSC®, Responsible Wood).
- Confident stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in environmental project delivery, contractor management, and OH&S performance.
- High-level GIS system knowledge and field application.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, forest or wildlife ecology, or related degree.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
