The opportunity that awaits:
Reporting to the Fire and Forest Coordinator, the Forestry Field Crew position supports the day-to-day operations of the Silviculture group, and when required, other functional groups in the Gippsland Region. The successful candidate will undertake manual fire risk management and suppression activities in the Gippsland Region, as well as a range of other activities to support the business. As a small team, we value teamwork, communication, high standards of work and a proactive attitude.
The successful applicants will:
- Have demonstrated firefighting experience with the ability to progress to Crew Leader
- Have good communication and problem-solving skills
- Be practical, collaborative and a hands-on approach.
- Be organised and can work autonomously
- Possess a current driver’s license
- Live within 30 minutes of a work centre
- Pass a pre-employment medical check and drug and alcohol test
- Be physically fit and have a willingness to undertake field-based operational tasks in all weather conditions and terrain.
- Be available for regular weekend standby
- Be available for deployments in other regions when necessary
Current accreditations in chainsaw use, chemical use, first aid, four-wheel driving and a Medium Rigid license are highly regarded but not mandatory.
